LAFFD 2026
The Latin American Film Festival of Dallas (LAFFD), the only current film festival in Dallas County to focus on Latin American films, is set to take place from March 27th to March 29th 2025, with a promise to revitalize the cinematic landscape in the DFW area.
Through a carefully curated selection of contemporary and repertory film, the festival aspires to foster a rich cultural exchange, inviting audiences to traverse the landscapes and emotions of Latin America, all while strengthening community bonds. "Our ambition is to bring the best of modern Latin American cinema to Dallas moviegoers," states Jhon Hernandez, Festival Director. "We are dedicated to shattering stereotypes and introducing fresh perspectives and stories that challenge preconceived notions about Latin American filmmaking."
The third edition of the festival promises a riveting lineup that spans the gamut of Latin American experiences. From intimate documentaries delving in the life of a Cuban family that survives by hunting crocodiles to the gentle romance that blossoms between a man and a woman who are cast in an independent film. Far from pigeonholing Latin American cinema into narratives of poverty and violence, the festival seeks new subjects and new avenues of expression. This year we also feature our first animated film in our history.
Through a rigorous selection process, the festival team prioritized films that spotlight marginalized communities and works crafted by underrepresented voices, including women, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC filmmakers. The result is a thoughtfully curated collection of films hailing from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Venezuela and the United States.
The 3rd edition of LAFFD will present 2 North American premieres, 4 Texas premieres, and 2 DFW premiere in the lineup.

Mauricio, full of regrets, is swallowed by the earth. Ramon, smitten by Olivia, witnesses the growth of a strange plant mirroring her. The film surreally explores the enduring power of love's memory.
